AEC professionals relate BIM Coordination with detecting clashes between models. However, this is only a small part of the whole process.
BIM Coordination initiates with defining the goals that client or company aims to achieve.
When we have these goals, we create individual plans for how various BIM strategies will be implemented.
These individual plans may described as many names but usually called "BIM Execution Plan (BEP) or Digital Engineering Execution Plan (DEEP)".
And BIM Coordination is a process of coordinating tasks related to the proper implementation of the BEP/DEEP in a project.

Coordination Platforms
Use various coordination platforms to execute coordination.
Model Coordination
Combine different BIM models created for the project into a federated model.
Report created against Digital Engineering Execution Plan (DEEP) from platform in agreed format and send to everyone involved in the process.
Model coordination process involves managing issues, either through BCF file format or agreed issue server.
Start Navisworks Manager and append NWC files.
NWC file can be prepared from each dicipline's Native Revit file.
Otherwise other consultant's file can be linked into Main model (Architectural) then batch exported.
